Marie Heeschen studied voice with Christoph Prégardien and Lioba Braun at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, where she also pursued the study of New Music with David Smeyers and Barbara Maurer. During her student years Heeschen also worked with Klesie Kelly-Moog, Ruth Ziesak, Martin Kränzle and Jil Feldman.
The versatile Heeschen is active in a wide range of classical music genres. As a soloist, she has performed in concerts and opera productions, appearing at the Handel Festival in Halle, the Frankish Summer Music Festival, the Oude Muyiek Fest in Utrecht, and the Acht Brücken Festival held in Cologne’s Philharmonie. She was a prize winner at the 2013 Biagio Marini Competition with her ensemble “paper kite”, with whom she also won prizes at the Premio Selifa in 2013 and 2015. In 2017 Heeschen released her debut CD felice un tempo. Her New Music ensemble BRuCH was the recipient of a grant from the Deutsche Musikrat for the 2017/18 season, collaborating with young composers such as Ricardo Eizirk and Matthias Krüger.
Maria Heeschen was a member of the Junges Ensemble in Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen in 2014/15. In the 2015/16 season she performed at the Bonn Opera in the role of Berta in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, in conjunction with Cologne’s University of Music and Dance. Since the 2017/18 season she has also been a regular ensemble member of the Bonn Opera and has filled in for roles including Musetta (La Boheme), Papagena (The Magic Flute), and Barbarina and Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro).
