Jan von Hassel received his first organ lessons with Hans Peter Reiners in Bonn-Beuel and later at the school of Regensburg Cathedral’s Boys Choir (“Regensburger Domspatzen”). Numerous master classes, e. g. with Frédéric Blanc, Wolfgang Seifen, Peter Planyawsky, Jos van der Kooy, Anders Bondemann, Olivier Latry, Naji Hakim and Thierry Escaich gave him inspiration for improvisation, which he actually taught himself.True to his motto, to live not from the music but for the music, he works as a lawyer in Regensburg, but undertakes nevertheless — whenever time permits — a busy schedule of concerts at home and abroad.
