The three cantatas for baritone by Johann Sebastian Bach are reckoned among the most beautiful and most expressive works of Baroque sacred music written for the deep voice. Internationally sought-after Oratorio and Lieder singer Thomas Berau and the renowned Baroque ensemble L’arpa festante, conducted by Christoph Andreas Schäfer, approach Bach’s deep religious message by a clear and authentic interpretation. In order to achieve this goal, the orchestra plays on historical instruments.
