Ralf Ludewig was born near Tölz and was trained in the TÖLZER KNABENCHOR under Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden from 1974 to 1981. As a boy, he appeared as a soloist under Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado and Nikolaus Harnoncourt in the finest opera houses and concerts in Germany and abroad. Ludewig then undertook further education in Holland and Osnabrück, studying voice, conducting and music education, and he played an important role in the founding of the Bach Ensemble for Early Music in Holland. As a voice teacher and choir director, he has taught at various music schools in northern Germany. In 1997 he obtained a degree in speech therapy. In 2002, having already achieved much renown as a choir director and vocal soloist, Ralf Ludewig was summoned by Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden to return to the TÖLZER KNABENCHOR as a vocal instructor. 2009-2014 he had assumed the positions of general director and artistic director.
