Georg Poplutz

Georg Poplutz is very highly esteemed for his expressive and sensitive interpretations of the art song and oratorio repertoire. He regularly appears in the top festivals, important churches, and concert halls at home and abroad. Among the many broadcasts and by now approximately 100 CDs and DVDs that feature Poplutz as soloist are cantata recordings for the J. S. Bach Stiftung of St. Gallen with Rulolf Lutz, as well as numerous works for the Heinrich Schutz Complete Edition directed by Hans-Christian Rademann, which in 2020 was honoured by Opus Klassik. Poplutz is also in demand as an ensemble singer and performs with the Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble under Arno Paduch. He also sang in Konrad Junghänel’s Cantus Cölln until it dissolved in 2022. After earning his teaching diploma in Münster and Dortmund, the Arnsberg (Westfalia) born Poplutz commenced vocal studies in Frankfurt am Main and Cologne under Berthold Possemeyer, Rainer Hoffmann, and Christoph Prégardien, and played in the Menuhin “Live Music Now” series. He has received vocal coaching from Carol Meyer- Bruetting for several years. In 2009 Poplutz won the Frankfurt Mendelssohn special prize for “his outstanding achievements in concert singing”. Art song performance is one of his specialties, and he collaborates with Hilko Dumno, his piano partner of many years, his organ partner Jürgen Banholzer, and guitarists Antje Asendorf &Stefan Hladek, all of whom can be heard on recordings. That Georg Poplutz has now been able to collaborate with pianist and composer Rudolf Lutz and has sung, and yes, experienced, lieder with him has been very meaningful, and an extra stroke of fortune!
